Revision is part of serious measurement. Corrections are dated, retained and attached to the document they affect.
Last revised
Published research is a record, not a draft. When something in that record is wrong, the fix belongs where the error was, not in a separate notice nobody reads.
What we correct
Substantive errors of fact, calculation, sourcing or attribution are corrected. Typographical fixes that do not change meaning are made silently.
How changes are recorded
Each affected document carries a dated revision record on the page itself. The document keeps its URL, its updated date changes, and previous figures remain traceable through the record.
Index and dataset revisions are published with the release that contains them and retained permanently. High-frequency series are provisional by design and are revised freely; where a fast series and a slower index disagree, the slower index governs.
Reporting an error
If you believe something we published is wrong, tell us what the claim is, where it appears, and what evidence contradicts it. Specific challenges are more useful than general disagreement, and we treat them seriously.
