This page publishes the segment's eligibility rule and boundary. No sub-index level, constituent list or weight is reported, because none has been measured.
Why this segment exists
Instruments and backline sit upstream of the show. Demand is driven partly by professional touring and partly by amateur and educational participation, which means the segment carries the weakest direct link to ticketed attendance of the eight. It is included because participation is a leading indicator of the artist supply that later fills the touring pipeline, and excluded from any narrow attendance-linked sub-index for the same reason.
Exposure measurement here is unusually demanding: a manufacturer's professional and consumer revenue are rarely disclosed apart, and an undisclosed split may not be estimated.
Eligibility
A company is assigned here when all hold
- The company manufactures, distributes, rents or retails musical instruments, amplification or backline equipment.
- Professional and touring revenue is disclosed separately, or the company's business is predominantly professional.
Outside the boundary
- General consumer electronics retail is excluded.
- Recorded-music production software with no live application is excluded.
Qualifying activities
- Instrument and amplifier manufacture
- Backline rental for tours and festivals
- Professional instrument retail and distribution
Constituents
None. A company is listed here only once its live-revenue exposure has been measured from a primary document and the index has been released. Candidate records held to prove the record schema are withheld from publication and are not named on this page.
