In the Live Index framework
The headline index answers whether live-economy equity value is rising or falling. A sub-index answers where. Ticketing, promotion and venues, and the production-supply segments respond to different things — fee regulation, attendance, and touring volume respectively — and a single blended level conceals which of them is moving.
Each sub-index uses the identical eligibility test, exposure measurement, float adjustment and weighting rule as the headline series, applied to a subset of constituents. Nothing about the construction changes between levels; only the population does. That makes the sub-indices additive in a defensible way and lets a reader reconstruct the headline from its parts.
A sub-index is released only when its own constituent set is measured. A segment with too few measured constituents to be meaningful stays unpublished and says so on its page rather than reporting a level computed from one company.
